Think in Irish!

“A person that speaks two languages has two souls”

This course is not conversational but encourages the learner to think in Irish

“A language must be learned at first through the ear and not through the eye. The teaching must be oral. This principle is stamped with nature’s approval. No mother attempts to teach a young child to speak by showing it signs and characters in a book.” P.T. McGinley 1903

  1. Learn to think in Irish

Part 1 is based on the ‘Series’ teaching method devised by Donegal native and key figure in the formation of The Gaelic League,lPeadar Toner McGinley. This method was originally developed in the late 19th century by Francois Gouin the noted French educator and author known for his work in the field of language education.  His contention was that everything a person does can be expressed in a ‘series’  of sentences.( Add something here)  The Series method also teaches the student to repeat accurately what the teacher has said thereby enforcing a correct pronunciation.

An scéal

It is very necessary to bring our students into touch as soon as possible with the Irish speakers around them, and book Irish is useless for this purpose. The book lessons utterly fail the student when he/she is put to the practical test of conversation.
